One thing people often don’t realise about reflexology is that it isn’t just about pressure points on the feet.
For me, the whole treatment experience matters.
The lighting, the pace of the treatment, the atmosphere, the conversation (or silence), the comfort of the chair, the scent in the room… all of it contributes to helping someone properly switch off for an hour.
That’s one of the reasons I’m selective about the reflexology waxes I use during treatments too.
I use professional Songbird reflexology waxes in a range of different blends depending on the client, the time of day and the overall feel of the treatment we’re creating together.
Some women arrive feeling stressed, overwhelmed and mentally overstimulated. Others come exhausted and running on empty. Some just want an hour where nobody needs anything from them.
The products I use become part of that experience.
My Current Reflexology Wax Blends
Balance Reflexology Wax
This is probably my personal favourite and the blend I reach for most often.
It contains Geranium, Frankincense and Bergamot among other oils and has a scent that feels uplifting, grounding and calming all at the same time.
The floral notes from Geranium combined with the musky depth of Frankincense create something that feels both comforting and emotionally balancing, while Bergamot adds a lighter citrus lift to the blend.
It’s one of those scents that instantly makes you exhale a little bit.
Lavender Reflexology Wax
Interestingly, this is probably the blend most women choose during evening appointments.
I’ve noticed that when clients arrive after long days juggling work, children, life and mental load, they’re often craving deep relaxation more than anything else.
Lavender has such a soft, calming scent and many clients naturally gravitate towards it in the evenings without even thinking too much about it.
Tea Tree & Mint Reflexology Wax
This blend feels fresh, cooling and energising.
It’s lovely for tired feet, especially during warmer weather or after long days on your feet, and gives a completely different treatment feel to some of the softer calming blends.
Zest Reflexology Wax
This one is lighter, citrusy and uplifting with Lime and Mandarin oils.
It has a fresher energy to it and can feel really bright and revitalising.
Why Product Quality Matters to Me
As a reflexologist, I work with these products all day long too.
I’m quite a sensory person, so scent, texture and overall feel genuinely matter to me… not just for my clients, but for my own experience of giving treatments as well.
Treatments are an energy exchange.
I’m not blocked off from the atmosphere of the treatment or the effects of the oils being used. I experience them too.
One client recently laughed when I commented afterwards that her treatment had felt relaxing for me as well. But it was true, she had such a lovely calm, gentle energy that the whole treatment felt peaceful from start to finish.
That’s part of what I love about reflexology.
No two treatments ever feel exactly the same.
More Than “Just” a Foot Treatment
I think people sometimes imagine reflexology as simply having pressure applied to the feet.
But for me, it’s about creating a space where women can properly stop for a moment.
A space that feels calm.
Grounding.
Comforting.
Restorative.
And often, it’s the little details that make the biggest difference.
