What to Expect From Your First Reflexology Treatment

If you’ve never had reflexology before, it’s completely normal to feel a little unsure about what you’re letting yourself in for. Will it hurt? Do you have to do anything special? What actually happens?

The short answer is: nothing to worry about, and everything to look forward to.

Here’s exactly what to expect when you book your first session with me.

We start with a chat

Before I touch your feet, we’ll have a short consultation. This is just a relaxed conversation about how you’re feeling, physically, emotionally, and everything in between. There are no wrong answers. The more I understand about what’s going on for you, the better I can tailor your treatment to what your body actually needs that day.

Everything you share stays completely confidential.

Who is it for?

Honestly? Most women I see are running on empty. They’re juggling work, family, and everyone else’s needs while quietly putting themselves last. Some are struggling with sleep, stress, or hormonal changes. Others are dealing with the relentless mental load of modern life and just need somewhere to properly stop.

Reflexology is for you if you’re exhausted and can’t quite explain why. It’s for you if you’re navigating perimenopause, struggling with your cycle, or just feeling disconnected from yourself. It’s for you if you’ve tried everything else and want something that actually addresses the whole of you, not just the symptom.

And it’s for you if you simply want an hour that is entirely, unapologetically yours.

You stay fully clothed

Reflexology only requires you to remove your shoes and socks, that’s it. You’ll be comfortably reclined, warm, and looked after. No need to undress, no awkward paper sheets, no fuss.

It’s not a foot massage, but it is deeply relaxing

People often assume reflexology is just a fancy foot rub. It’s actually quite different. I use precise pressure techniques on specific points of the feet that correspond to different areas of the body. It’s not painful. Most people describe it as deeply relaxing, occasionally with moments of tenderness on areas that need a little more attention.

Many clients drift off to sleep. Others go into a deeply still, peaceful state. Both are completely normal and actually a sign your nervous system is responding beautifully.

What if you fall asleep?

It happens more often than you’d think, and it is genuinely one of the loveliest things to witness. If you drift off during your treatment, please don’t worry and please don’t apologise. It means your body felt safe enough to fully let go, and that is exactly what we are here for. I’ll simply continue working quietly and let you rest. You won’t miss anything, I promise.

Every treatment is different

Because every session is tailored to you, no two treatments are ever the same, even if you come back regularly. Your body tells me what it needs, and I listen.

How you might feel afterwards

Most people leave feeling genuinely lighter, calmer, clearer, and more themselves. Some people feel a little tired or emotional in the day or two that follow, which is your body processing and rebalancing. It passes quickly and is a positive sign that things are shifting.

Drink plenty of water afterwards and try to give yourself a gentle evening if you can.

Ready to book?

Your first treatment is just that, a first step. There’s no pressure, no commitment, and no expectation. Just an hour to properly switch off and let your body do what it’s naturally designed to do.
