Can Reflexology Help With Headaches?
"I always seem to have a headache"...
You reach for the painkillers so often it has become automatic. That dull ache behind your eyes, the tension across your forehead, the tightness creeping up from your neck and shoulders. Some days it is a background hum, other days it stops you in your tracks. You are fed up of just managing it and would love to actually get on top of it.
Reflexology can really help.
Can reflexology help with tension headaches?
Tension headaches are one of the most common things I see in my clients and one of the things reflexology is particularly effective for. They are usually caused by stress, poor posture or tension held in the neck, shoulders and jaw. Reflexology works to release that physical tension throughout the body and calm the nervous system that is driving it, helping to ease the headache and reduce how often they come back.
Can reflexology help with stress headaches?
When you are stressed, your body holds tension and your blood pressure rises, both of which can trigger headaches. Reflexology works directly on your stress response, calming your nervous system and helping your body to release that tension before it builds into a headache. Regular sessions can really reduce how frequently stress headaches occur.
Can reflexology help with hormonal headaches?
Hormonal headaches, particularly those linked to your menstrual cycle, perimenopause or menopause, are incredibly common and can be really debilitating. Reflexology supports your endocrine system to encourage better hormonal balance, which many women find reduces both the frequency and severity of hormonally triggered headaches over time.
Can reflexology help with headaches caused by poor sleep?
Poor sleep and headaches feed each other in a frustrating cycle. Lack of sleep triggers headaches, and headaches make it harder to sleep. Reflexology works on both, helping to improve your sleep quality and calm the nervous system tension that causes the headaches, gradually breaking that cycle.
Can reflexology help with chronic headaches?
If you are getting headaches regularly and they have become just part of your normal life, that is a sign your body is under strain and needs some proper support. Reflexology works holistically, looking at the whole picture rather than just the headache in isolation, helping your body to find better balance so headaches become less frequent and less severe over time.
Can reflexology help with migraines?
Migraines are complex and if you suffer with them regularly it is important to work with your GP or a specialist to understand your triggers and treatment options. That said, many migraine sufferers find reflexology a really helpful complementary support alongside their medical care. By reducing stress, improving sleep and supporting hormonal balance, reflexology can help to address some of the most common migraine triggers. Please always seek medical advice for migraines and let me know if you suffer with them before your appointment so I can tailor your treatment accordingly
How many reflexology sessions will I need for headaches?
Many women notice a reduction in headaches after just a few sessions. For chronic or recurring headaches a regular course of treatments tends to give the best results, giving your body time to recalibrate and your nervous system time to settle. I will always talk through what I would recommend for you personally at your first appointment.
